say

1.說出某句話

       She said, “I love you.”（她說：「我愛你。」）

       say  hello / one’s prayers

              bye / good morning

（說哈囉∕祈禱∕再見∕早安）

2.後接名詞子句（但say與子句之間不能直接接人稱代名詞或名詞）

       I am sorry to say (that) I have to go.（很抱歉我要走了。）

3.說明時間

       My watch says 10:00 sharp.（我的錶是十點正。）

4.書、信、布告、報紙上的「說」

       The notice says, “No school on Monday.”（通告說「星期一停課」。）

5.慣用語

       It goes without saying that education is important to everyone.

（不用說，教育對每個人都是重要的。）

       It is said that he is rich.（=He is said to be rich.）（據說，他很有錢。）

       Strange to say, he was calm when he heard the bad news.

（說也奇怪，當他聽到這壞消息時卻很平靜。）

       Sam is a good student; that is to say, he gets good grades in school.

（山姆是好學生，也就是說，他在學校的成績很好。）

       You can say that again.（對極了；你說得好；我同意你。）

tell

1.講故事；說實話

       Old men like to tell stories.（老年人喜歡講故事。）

       We should always tell the truth.（我們應該永遠說實話。）

2.辨別（tell～from）

       She cannot tell right from wrong.（她無法辨別是非。）
